1. NYC’s Classpass is being acquired by Mindbody, a booking platform for fitness studios. The purchase price was not disclosed other than its an all stock deal. Classpass had previously raised a total of $549 million from investors including True Capital Management, Temasek Holdings, L Catterton, Apax Digital, Moonshots Capital, GV, General Catalyst, Fifth Wall, Expanding Capital and CRV. 2. NYC’s AI.Reverie, a startup creating synthetic data to train machine learning models, has been acquired by Facebook. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. In 2020, AI.Reverie was awarded a $1.5 million research grant by AFWERX, a tech incubation arm of the U.S. Air Force, to build AI algorithms for the 7th Bomb Wing at Dyess Air Force Base. 3. NYC’s Masterworks, a fractional artwork investment startup, has raised $110 million in a Series A funding, at a valuation of over $1 billion. Left Lane Capital led the round and was joined by Galaxy Interactive and Tru Arrow Partners. Masterworks buys and stores paintings by famed contemporary artists like Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Banksy, and then sells fractional shares of them in SEC registered public offerings. 4. NYC’s Aquant, a customer service analytics platform, has raised $70 million in a Series C funding. The round was co-led by Qumra Capital, NYC’s Insight Partners and Pitango Growth, with participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners and Angular Ventures. Aquant’s platform maps customer service problems by analyzing information such as customer tickets, parts catalogs, inventory and supply chains, and then prioritizes technicians’ job schedules. 5. NYC’s Wizard, a “conversational commerce” platform, has raised $50 million in a Series A funding. NEA led the round and was joined by Accel and former Walmart e-commence chief Marc Lore. Wizard was spun out of text-based shopping platform Stylust which used artificial intelligence and image recognition to give shoppers more options on what to buy via text message. 6. NYCs Betterment, a digital investment platform, has raised $160 million in a combined equity and debt financing. The funding consists of a $60 million Series F round at a $1.3 billion valuation (Treasury, Kinnevik, Bessemer Venture Partners, Francisco Partners, Menlo Ventures, Anthemis Group, Globespan Capital Partners, Citi Venture, The Private Shares Fund, Aflac Ventures and ID8 Investments) and a $100 million credit facility (ORIX Corporation USA and Runway Growth Capital). 7. NYC’s mParticle, a customer data platform, has raised $150 million in a Series E financing. The funding was led by Permira. mParticle’s platform facilitates real-time collection of customer data via a suite of 300 analytics and marketing APIs. (www.mparticle.com) (CMS Wire)

8. NYC’s Studs, an ear piercing startup focused on Generation Z, has raised $20 million in a Series B funding. Spark Capital led the round and was joined by NYC’s Thrive Capital, First Round Capital and NYC’s Lerer Hippeau. About 70% of Studs’ revenue comes from its studio-based piercing operations, with the other 30% comes from selling jewelry online. (www.studs.com) (Forbes)

9. NYC’s Medley, a group coaching platform that focuses on both personal and professional development, has raised $3.7 million in a seed funding. Andreessen Horowitz led the round and was joined by Aglaé Ventures, Foundation Capital, artist Ciara, Peloton CMO Dara Treseder and Away CEO Jen Rubio. Medley’s platform groups together members with the intention of fostering diversity and inclusion, for coaching on topics such as becoming a new parent, leadership and career pivots. 10. NYC’s Hopscotch, a b2b payments startup, has emerged from stealth and raised $3.6 million in a seed funding. Noemis Ventures and Stellation Capital led the round and were joined by Valar Ventures, Valor Equity Partners, 3KVC, Red & Blue Ventures, NfX, Brightlane Ventures, Switch VC and The MBA Fund. Hopscotch’s platform integrates with leading accounting solutions and provides instant, fee-free transactions possible for small businesses. (www.tryhopscotch.io) (PR Newswire)
