1. NYC’s DailyPay, an on-demand pay solutions for employers, has raised $500 million in a combined equity and debt round. The $175 million Series D equity round was led by Carrick Capital Partners. Various investors participated in the $325 million of credit facility. DailyPay partners with 80% of Fortune 200 companies to offer on-demand pay to employees. (www.trydailypay.com) (PR Newswire)
2. Vision/Capital/People, a venture capital firm launched by former New York Yankees Alex Rodriguez and Jet.com founder Marc Lore, has launched with $50 million of their own money. They plan to eventually raise $300 million to $500 million. The fund seeks to make larger investments in early stage companies than is typical for early round funding. (CNBC)
3. NYC’s Cedar, a patient financial engagement platform for healthcare, has acquired San Francisco’s OODA Health, a healthcare payment platform. The purchase price was $425 million. OODA works with nearly 20 companies, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona and CommonSpirit Health, while Cedar works with more than 35, including Yale New Haven Health and ChristianaCare. 4. NYC’s Rally, a fractional investing platform for alternatives investments such as luxury cars, has raised $30 million in a Series B financing. Accel led the round with participation from Upfront Ventures and Social Leverage. Additionally, Rally secured a $50 million debt facility from Upper90 Capital. The company’s platform allows small investors to buy equity shares of individual blue-chip assets such as collectible cars, wine, sports memorabilia, comic books and watches. 5. NYC’s Allstar, a platform for sharing gaming clips, has raised $3.85 million in a seed funding. New York Angels led the round with participation from Studio.vc, Emerging Ventures, J-Ventures, Harvard Business School Alumni Angels of Greater New York, Miami Angels, Gaingels and Sand Hill Angels. Allstar’s platform automates recording game play and integrates with platforms such as Discord. Mark Cuban is an early investor in the company. (www.allstar.gg) (VentureBeat)

6. NYC’s Better.com, an online mortgage startup, is going public via a merger with Aurora Acquisition, a SPAC. The deal values Better at $7.7 billion and includes a $1.5 billion investment led by SoftBank. Better had previously raised $905 millon from investors including American Express Ventures, Softbank, Citi, Kleiner Perkins and Goldman Sachs. (www.better.com) (CNBC)
7. NYC’s Aetion, a real-world evidence platform, has raised $110 million in a Series C funding. Warburg Pincus led the round and was joined by Capital, Foresite Capital, New Enterprise Associates and Flare Capital Partners. The company’s platform, which is used by 13 of the top 20 global biopharma firms, provides decision-makers in life sciences and health insurance companies with insights from real world evidence. 8. NYC has sued NYC’s JOCO, a docked electric bike-share service, for operating without authorization. JOCO has argued that it’s not violating any laws since its docking stations are all on private property and thus outside the jurisdiction of city regulation. 9. According to Bloomberg, NYC’s Equinox Holdings, a high end gym operator, is in talks to merge with a Social Capital Hedosophia Holdings Corp. VI, a SPAC. A deal could value Equinox, which also owns Blink Fitness, at more than $7.5 billion. (www.equinox.com) (Bloomberg)
10. NYC’s BigBrain, a trivia app which offers prize money, has raised $4.5 million in a seed funding. Investors included FirstRound Capital, Box Group, Ludlow Ventures and Golden Ventures. BigBrain will be hosting 20 real time competitions daily with different quizzes having different prize structures and the average cost to enter being $2 to $3. (www.playbigbrain.com) (TechCrunch)
11. Brooklyn’s Outlaw, a legal contract management platform, has been acquired by a competitor, Salt Lake City’s Filevine. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
